Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Increase heat and bring to a boil without stirring. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
  3. Once mixture reaches 250°F, remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and food coloring.
  4. Allow mixture to cool slightly before pouring onto a greased surface.
  5. Once cool enough to handle, knead the mixture until soft and pliable.
  6. Roll into small balls or shapes and dust with powdered sugar.
  7. Let cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • For a stronger mint flavor, adjust the amount of peppermint extract.
  • Can be wrapped in cellophane for gift giving.
