  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. In a small bowl, mix 3 tablespoons sugar with cinnamon. Roll dough into balls and coat in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Place on prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden.
  7. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding vanilla extract to the dough.
  • Experiment with different sugars for coating like brown sugar.
