Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla, melted butter, and red food coloring.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until well incorporated.
  5. Spread the dough into a rectangle and sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly and slice into rounds.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  8. Let cool slightly and top with cream cheese icing before serving.

  • For a richer flavor, let the dough rest before rolling.
