Pasta alla Sorrentina

A comforting dish made with pasta baked in a rich tomato sauce and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add marinara sauce, oregano, red pepper flakes, and salt. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Mix the cooked pasta with the sauce and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

  • This dish can be made ahead and baked just before serving.
  • Feel free to add cooked vegetables or meats for additional flavor.
