Italian Sausage Rigatoni Pasta

A delightful and simple dish that combines rigatoni pasta with flavorful Italian sausage, perfect for weeknight dinners.

  • 12 ounces rigatoni pasta
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the rigatoni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the garlic and sausage to the skillet. Cook until the sausage is browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked rigatoni to the skillet and mix well to combine.
  6. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top and cover until melted.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.
