Italian Sausage Rigatoni Pasta

A delightful Italian pasta dish with savory sausage that warms the soul.

  • 1 pound rigatoni pasta
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook rigatoni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked sausage back to the skillet, then add the rigatoni and mix well.
  6. Serve with grated Parmesan on top.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add more red pepper flakes.
  • Pair with a side salad for a complete meal.
