Gooey Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl; gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Make a small indentation in the center of each cookie and fill with caramel sauce.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nice and golden.
  9. Sprinkle with sea salt while still warm.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
