Easy Cherry Pie Bars

These Easy Cherry Pie Bars are a delightful dessert with a flaky crust and a sweet cherry filling, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup almond extract
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add in the softened butter and almond extract, mixing until crumbly.
  4. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a greased baking dish.
  5. Spread the cherry pie filling over the crust.
  6. Crumble the remaining mixture on top of the cherry filling.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • For a stronger cherry flavor, add fresh cherries along with the pie filling.
  • Serve with whipped cream for additional sweetness.
