Comforting French Onion Pot Roast

A hearty comfort food dish featuring tender pot roast infused with French onion flavor and a twist of savory turkey bacon.

  • 3 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 8 slices turkey bacon
  • 2 cups sliced onions
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook turkey bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sear the pot roast on all sides until browned.
  4. Transfer the pot roast to a roasting pan. Add sliced onions, beef broth, soy sauce, thyme, garlic powder, and pepper.
  5. Crumble the cooked turkey bacon over the top.
  6. Cover with foil and roast in the preheated oven for about 3 hours or until the meat is tender.
  7. Remove from oven, let rest for 10 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

  • For added flavor, marinate the roast overnight with herbs and spices.
