Classic Beefaroni is a homemade version of the popular canned dish, featuring comforting flavors that appeal to all ages.

  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces)
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned.
  2. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, sugar, and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. In a separate pot, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions.
  4. Drain the macaroni and add it to the skillet. Mix well.
  5. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and cover until melted.

Notes

  • This recipe can be easily adjusted for spice by adding red pepper flakes.
  • For a healthier version, use lean ground beef or turkey.
