These cherry snowball cookies are the perfect indulgent treat for any occasion. Soft, buttery cookies rolled in powdered sugar give a sweet surprise of cherry flavor in every bite.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling
  • 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before rolling in powdered sugar.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can substitute half of the butter with unsweetened applesauce.
  • Make sure to drain the cherries well to prevent excess moisture in the dough.
