  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and spices. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread with softened butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll the dough tightly and cut into slices. Place in a greased baking pan and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Mix powdered sugar with a splash of milk to make a glaze and drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider using chai tea instead of regular milk.
  • These rolls can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
