A delicious homemade version of the classic Beijing Beef dish, perfect for satisfying takeout cravings.

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 cup onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cups cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the sliced beef in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, and cornstarch for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the marinated beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the bell peppers and onions, cooking until vegetables are tender.
  5. Drizzle with sesame oil and mix well to combine.
  6. Serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add some crushed red pepper flakes.
